This assessment is intended to better understand an individual’s emotional, behavioral, cognitive, and psychological functioning. These evaluations help identify mental health concerns, clarify diagnoses, and provide recommendations for treatment.

Areas commonly assessed include:

  • Current mental health symptoms and concerns

  • Emotional and behavioral functioning

  • Mood, anxiety, and stress-related symptoms

  • Thought processes, perception, and reality testing

  • Cognitive functioning, judgment, and insight

  • Personal, family, and social history

  • Trauma history and its impact on functioning

  • Substance use and related concerns

  • Risk factors, including concerns related to self-harm, suicide, or violence

  • Daily functioning at home, school, work, or within the community

  • Strengths, coping skills, and protective factors

The assessment is a clinical interview with the client. Collateral information will be reviewed, as appropriate. Findings are summarized in a written report that may include diagnostic impressions, treatment recommendations, and opinions relevant to the referral question. This is a therapeutic service that will typically be covered by insurance.

Please note: Individuals can be referred for mental health assessments by self, healthcare providers, attorneys, courts, probation or parole agencies, employers, educational institutions, or child welfare agencies. This assessment is NOT a forensic service. We will refer examinee’s to appropriate services at the conclusion of the evaluation, if requested.
